In April and May 2015 a severe earthquake struck Nepal. Later that year former ICR Chair Rune Holbek and ICR member from Nepal, Birendra Mahato and partners submitted a project proposal to organize a special conference in Kathmandu on helping Nepali museums to recover from damage. The project was approved in March 2016. ICOM supported it with a grant of €7.000; ICR contributed €3.000.
